One UI 6.1.1 fixes Material You theming issues in Google apps

While Samsung’s Android 14-based One UI 6.0 brought many new features, it also introduced an issue where the software couldn’t apply the Material You theming to Google apps. For example, in Color Palette, if you chose a color, or if One UI 6.0 selected one automatically that matches the wallpaper, it applied that to all apps except for the ones from Google. While people hoped that the brand would fix it with an update, the issue was persistent in One UI 6.1 too. Well, Samsung is finally fixing it with One UI 6.1.1.

Last week, Samsung rolled out One UI 6.1.1 to the Galaxy S24 series smartphones. On Reddit, a user reports that after installing the update, the Material You theming is working as it should in Google apps. That means now if you select a color in Color Palette, the software will apply it in Google apps as well. Similarly, if you set a wallpaper, and the software automatically picks an accent color to match the wallpaper, it will also apply that to Google apps, as you can see in the image below shared by the Reddit user.

While this issue didn’t hinder the standard functionality of the apps, it certainly drove people crazy, especially the ones who care about aesthetics. Well, not anymore. It is surprising that Samsung took almost a year to fix the issue. One UI 6.1.1 also brings many new features to the Galaxy S24 series smartphones. You can check them out here. Samsung is also working on Android 15-based One UI 7.0. It too brings massive changes, as many leaks have suggested. The beta version of it should arrive later this year.
