Notifications could soon sync between your Android devices

Apple's walled garden is often praised for its tight integration between devices, software, and services, and Android has always been a step behind in that regard. Google is trying to improve on that front, and it appears to be testing syncing notifications between Android devices.

Notifications could sync between Android smartphones and tablets

Duplicate notifications could be an issue if you own multiple Android smartphones or a combination of a phone and a tablet. It is being reported by Android Authority that Android 15 QPR1 Beta 2 has code that is related to a feature that syncs the status of notifications between Android devices signed into the same account.

A feature called ‘Sync Across Devices' was found in the Settings app. To be precise, Google seems to be testing a way to sync notifications across Android devices. If you open or dismiss a notification on one Android device, it could disappear from the other device. Moreover, this feature's code was found in the com.android.settings class, which means it could come to all Android devices, not just exclusive to Pixel devices.

The story continues after our Galaxy S24 Ultra long-term review video below.

However, Google has kept this feature hidden in the beta version of Android, which means it hasn't finished testing it yet. So, it is possible that the company won't ship it with Android 15. It is also possible that Google might have a change of heart and keep that feature exclusive to Pixel devices when it releases notification syncing.

We hope Google brings notification status syncing to all Android phones, regardless of their brand. It would help improve the entire Android ecosystem.
