Samsung adds two new premium soundbars to round off its 2020 lineup

Samsung has announced that it is adding two new premium soundbars—HW-Q950T and HW-Q900T—to its Q-series lineup. The HW-Q950T is now the company’s most premium soundbar, offering a 9.1.4-channel sound. The HW-Q900T, on the other hand, offers 7.1.2-channel audio. The soundbars not only sound great but look the part, too, thanks to the premium Kvadrat material they come wrapped in.

The HW-Q950T features a soundbar, a wireless subwoofer, and two additional rear up-firing speakers. Combined, they offer a 9.1.4-channel audio experience, something that’s hard to come by in the soundbar segment. Samsung has also added left and right wide channel speakers in the soundbar, offering more realistic audio.

The HW-Q950T and the HW-Q900T come with support for Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X, and Q-Symphony audio technologies. The CES 2020 Best Innovation Award-winning Q-Symphony feature allows you to pair the soundbars with Samsung’s 2020 QLED TVs so that audio is reproduced from both the device, offering richer audio. They also have support for eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) for full and rich audio quality.

They also come with built-in support for Alexa and SmartThings. You can listen to your favorite music from Amazon Prime Music, Apple Music, iHeart Radio, Spotify, and TuneIn. SmartThings-compatible smart home products can also be controlled using the soundbars. They also come with the Tap Sound feature that allows you to transfer your music from your smartphone to the soundbar with just a tap.

Both models are just 69.5mm tall, allowing them to fit in the tight space below your TV. The HW-Q950T is priced at KRW 1.9 million (around $1,590) in South Korea, while the HW-Q900T costs KRW 1.4 million (around $1,170), and they will be available from July 14 in the country. Samsung says that these soundbars are tuned at the Samsung Audio Lab in Valencia, California, in the US.

Seong Cho, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Product Marketing of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business, said, “In collaboration with Audio Lab in the US, we have been able to develop multi-dimensional surround sound that can be more accessible at home, which was previously only possible with a separate home-theater system. In addition to improving sound quality, we also focused on fine-tuning the soundbar’s design aesthetic by using eco-friendly textiles, made by Danish premium brand Kvadrat.
