PSA: You need the Fortnite Installer app installed for updates to the game

Samsung gained exclusive rights to the Android version of Fortnite for its phones and tablets for three days, with the game having released last week during the Galaxy Note 9 launch event. If you have been playing the game and like it enough to be playing it regularly in the days to come, here’s a tip for you: You will need to keep the Fortnite Installer app installed on your device to be able to update the main game.

Fortnite updates will come through its Installer app

The Fortnite Installer app is the primary method of downloading the actual game on Android, as it hasn’t been released on the Play Store. The app will also be required for updates to the game on Android, just like it is on the Windows platform. And one update has already been released over the weekend for making the game available to all Android devices, although users need an invite from the game’s developer to be able to play it on non-Galaxy devices. Not so for owners of supported Galaxy devices. Those include the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S9, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy Tab S3, and the upcoming Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy Tab S4.

If you haven’t already tried Fortnite on your Galaxy device, check out our step-by-step guide for instructions on how to download the game.
