Latest Galaxy J3 (2017) firmware update brings March 2018 security patch

Samsung is gradually rolling out this month’s security maintenance release to more supported devices and that’s precisely what the latest Galaxy J3 (2017) firmware update brings. The company is rolling out a new update for the Galaxy J3 model number SM-J330FN which brings the March 2018 security patch to the device.

Latest Galaxy J3 (2017) firmware update

The Galaxy J3 (2017) is the entry-level model in last year’s mid-range Galaxy J series. It features a 5-inch 1920×1080 pixel resolution display and is powered by a 1.4GHz Exynos 7570 processor with up to 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.

The latest Galaxy J3 (2017) firmware update is now rolling out for users in Italy. Samsung has released firmware version J330FNXXU3ARC1 which updates the Android security patch level to March 2018. The update will soon roll out over-the-air in other markets as well. It’s also available for download from our firmware section.

Samsung detailed the March 2018 security patch last week. It’s going to update many devices from the January patch straight to the latest release as it had its hands full with the Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 Oreo release in February.

This month’s security maintenance release brings fixes for nine critical vulnerabilities found in the Android operating system as well as scores of moderate-risk and high-risk vulnerabilities. Fixes for five Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items discovered in Samsung’s proprietary software are also included.

With the latest Galaxy J3 (2017) firmware update now being rolled out in Italy, it’s only a matter of time before the handset gets it in other markets as well. Expect Samsung to ramp up the release of the latest security patch update in the coming days.
