Galaxy S9 and S9+ 256GB storage variant looks set to be widely available

For the first time since the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge were launched, Samsung has announced various storage models for its newest flagships on the very first day. The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be launched in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB varieties, and the phones also support up to 400 GB of expandable storage. Samsung hasn’t revealed availability details for the different storage variants yet, but it looks like at least the 256GB version will be widely available alongside the 64GB base model.

The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ have been listed by Samsung’s divisional arms on their respective websites; we checked out a few of those, and the 256GB model is listed for various countries with the same release date as the base variant. It’s not just limited to one of the color options, either, suggesting that Samsung is going to limit consumers to just 64GB of onboard storage in fewer markets this year. Well, at least when it comes to the 256GB variant; the 128GB model seems to be listed only by Samsung UK and might not be launching in most markets.

Of course, some countries will be limited to the base variant, as has been the case with previous flagships, although this could change a few months later as the company is wont to do. New color options could come as well, and we’d particularly be interested in the Burgundy Red treatment that Samsung gave to the Galaxy S8 last year, even if it might look a tad similar to the Lilac Purple version of the Galaxy S9.

See what we think about the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ in our hands-on experience, and tell us which of the two devices and color/storage variant you’re looking to pick up once they go on sale in your country.
