This is what Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold Wide may look like

This is what Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold Wide may look like

There has been endless speculation that Samsung is working on another Galaxy Z Fold variant which would be wider than the current models. It's said to have a similar form factor to Apple's first iPhone Fold.

We may now have our very first impression of what this device may look like, courtesy of some CAD renders that have just been leaked online.

Truly a book-style foldable

It's unclear what Samsung will name this device, which is currently referred to by the Galaxy Wide Fold, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, and Galaxy Z Fold Wide monikers in the news media.

Earlier reports have suggested that it may have a 5.4-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch foldable display with a wider aspect ratio. It may also have a 5,000 mAh battery with 45W charging support. A 200-megapixel primary sensor and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor may also be present.

The CAD renders published by AndroidHeadlines suggest this device will measure 123.9 x 161.4 x 4.9mm when unfolded and 123.9 x 82.2 x 9.8mm when folded. As the renders suggest, the wider aspect ratio would make it a great device for content consumption and for running tablet-optimized apps.

Details about the technical specifications are slim right now, but this will likely be a flagship-level device. So we may see Samsung equip it with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset alongside up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.

Samsung will likely unveil the device in the second half of this year alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Flip 8.
