Galaxy J2 Prime gets March 2018 security patch

It’s not surprising to see that the March 2018 security patch rollout has begun with mid-range and low-end devices. Samsung has developed a habit recently of first rolling out new patches to such devices. Flagship devices tend to get it a couple of weeks after the patch is first detailed. Those who own a Galaxy J2 Prime will now be delighted to find out that Samsung is rolling out the March 2018 security patch for their device.

The Galaxy J2 Prime is a low-end device that was released in November 2016. The handset is powered by a MediaTek processor coupled with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.

Samsung is rolling out firmware version G532GDDU1ARB4 for the Galaxy J2 Prime in Bangladesh. The update only applies the latest security maintenance release and doesn’t bump up the core Android OS which remains at Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

The March 2018 security patch brings fixes for nine critical vulnerabilities that were discovered in the Android operating system as well as fixes for many high-risk and moderate-risk vulnerabilities. It also includes fixes for five Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items discovered in Samsung’s software.

The latest security maintenance release is now being rolled out over-the-air for the Galaxy J2 Prime in Bangladesh. It’s also available for download from our firmware section.
